The Raveonettes, for me came along at a time of lots of bands called The ______s, and it was hard for me to keep track of them all. Through another fortuitous playlist, I came across this track “Dead Sound”. It was one of those moments when it was playing in the background, and suddenly my ears perked up, wondering, “What is this? It sounds new and familiar all at once”. Can’t say that I know much (or really anything) about the rest of their catalog, but this one is delightful. Sparkly and grungy, but still light and accessible. Good stuff. I also like that their name makes me think of Raisinettes, call me biased, but I’m okay with it.
