So I know it’s been a hot minute since The Blueprint III was released, but I just got around to listening to it now. Jay-Z will always have a soft spot in my heart, often saying exactly what you need to hear. However, the rumors are true, this album contains its fair share of mediocre tracks, which everyone seems to be up in arms about. Personally, I think that the phenomenal songs far outweigh the bad, and I would say I have an overall positive view of the album. As much as songs like “Hate” make me question why they were even recorded, tracks like “Empire State of Mind” truly blew me away, in that lovely stop-what-you’re-doing-to-press-repeat kind of way. As evidenced by the fact that the girl in front of me in line last night (getting chili cheese fries at 2am) was belting it out for all to hear, I’m not the only one who thinks so.
