° Tanlines °

So I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned Tanlines on here. First heard their name through this Au Revoir Simone remix they made. Later I came across their track “New Flowers” and rocked out on that for a couple of months. They were the opening band for the Julian Casablancas show a few weeks ago here in DC (personally thought that they seemed more genuine and intriguing than their headliner). And yet, I have never mentioned them. Blasphemy. Came across an excellent Memory Tapes remix (need I say more?) of one of their songs, and I guess that was the push I needed. This is music you can dance to. Beautiful, just beautiful.

° Karl Blau + Lake °

I recently engineered a show for K Records legend Karl Blau + Lake and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the experience. The artists were very chill, the music was gorgeous and the crowd dug from start to finish. A good chunk of my life has been spent running around the suburbs of Seattle, and this was honestly the first time that I’ve ever been proud to be a Washingtonian. Both artists released solid albums in 2k9 that you must check out.

° Breakbot, “Baby I’m Yours” °

I am very ready to see Breakbot in two weeks. This new track is excellent. His first offical EP on Ed Banger drops on Valentines Day.

° Not Justice, “Beginning of the End” °

I was recently shown the DVD portion of Justice‘s A Cross The Universe, and it got me thinking about how their upcoming release was going to stack up against new material from Daft Punk and Breakbot. This is going to be an interesting a year for the heavy hitters.

Is this really Justice? Nope.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
