Lightspeed Champion is the alter ego of eclectic indie rocker Devonté Hynes. He opened for Phoenix when I saw them at Webster Hall last June, and the snippets I’ve been hearing from his recent release have been excellent. The album was inspired by 70′s surf, country and classic piano, which is heavily reflected in his cover of ElvisDevil in Disguise. I love the melodies emanating from his electric guitar. You must check out this video for Marlene.
