° Broken Social Scene, “World Sick” °

Broken Social Scene has done an excellent job of scooping up my favorite Canadian musicians over the last few years, and the snippets I’ve been hearing from Forgiveness Rock Record have been epic. This song reminds me a lot of the stuff from You Forgot It In People, but in a more developed state. Elizabeth Powell can sing on almost anything and I’ll bite.

° VIDEO: Devon Sproule, “Ain’t That The Way” °

Through Devon Sproule‘s mailing list I learned of this lovely video for her song “Ain’t That The Way”. Devon has been a long time love of mine. I first came across her music during a live performance in a tiny living room in Vermont, and (as anyone who has seen her in person can attest) immediately became hypnotized. She is one of those magical creatures that everyone wishes they could be or be with, it also doesn’t hurt that she has a gorgeous voice. Her songs are reminiscent of running through fields in the summertime, which this video captures perfectly. She’ll be at SXSW for the first time this year and I can’t wait to fall in love all over again.

° Zomby °

Zomby is a mysterious hyperdub producer from the UK who was recently honored with two spots on Hyperdub‘s 5 Years of Hyperdub LP. He grew up listening to garage, jungle, and rave, and reflects those influences with a very intriguing sound. He has yet to show his true identity, and has done some pretty interesting interviews for the guys over at xlr8r that only adds to his mystery. Watch out of for his collaborations with D.I.D. favorite Actress on the Werk Records website.

° Caribou, “Odessa” °

So another track that I’m late on is the newest single from Caribou. I included it on my Valentine’s mix, but haven’t given it its proper dues. This is one of those songs that upon first listen is good, but with each subsequent experience seems to get better and better and worms its way into your subconscious until you’re listening to it uncontrollably for weeks. I can’t wait to hear more of this new Caribou. As an added bonus, also enjoy the awesome track “Irene” off of Andorra which is so subtle it might just slip by without you noticing, so be sure to pay attention.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
