Twin Sister, Color Your Life EP

Dreamy Brooklynites Twin Sister have released their new EP, entitled Color Your Life, for free on their website for two weeks! It was super swell to finally experience them live at the MICRO-PIXEL-RITES unofficial yet totally rad backyard BBQ showcase during SXSW, and to learn that they’ll be in the fair city of Washington, DC [...]

Body Language, “Sandwiches” Remixed

Opened my inbox yesterday to find a new remix of a track by my new favorite band, Body Language. “Sandwiches” is transformed from a sexy makeout song, into a sexy makeout song you can dance to. Can’t wait to be listening to this at a summertime pool party, but for now I’ll enjoy these first [...]

SXSW Performance: Mountain Man @ The Longbranch Inn

After another long day in Austin, I found myself at a Mountain Man performance somewhere near 1am during the Underwater Peoples and Gorilla vs. Bear showcase. Delirious and exhausted, I was holding out to hear these lovely ladies. Due to technical difficulties, the trio decided to cast their microphones aside, instead choosing to perform acoustically [...]

Cocorosie, “Smokey Taboo”

So my longtime loves Cocorosie are releasing a new album, Grey Oceans, due out in May. This is the first taste I’ve heard, and I’m already excited. Cocorosie – Smokey Taboo

Damu the Fudgemunk

So, Vinyl Meltdown let me know that Damu the Fudgemunk has released a 2-part LP entitled “How It Should Sound” (how badass is that?), as well as a free promo EP to give you a taste. Classic and timeless, it’s always a pleasure to hear more of his music, plus us DC people have to [...]

Javelin, “No Mas”

In case you’ve missed my cooze over the last few months, Javelin‘s No Mas dropped today. Aside from Oh! Centra (I still can’t get over those creepo vocals), every beat on the album is ridiculous. It only gets better with each listen. This is definitely going to go down as one of my favorite releases [...]

Jay Z, “Roc Boys” (Nigerian Gangster Remix)

Jay Z + Fela Kuti? I’m surprised this Water Get No Enemy sample hasn’t shown up on any actual Jay releases.

Awesome Videos From the Interwebs

So my roommate turned me onto this one, and it’s pretty darn epic. Never heard the song before, by a group called Hold Your Horses, but I was immediately drawn in. Art nerds, this one’s for you. As an added bonus, this gem from Hudson Mohawke is guaranteed to please.

Animal Collective, “Brother Sport” Video

This video for Brother Sport has blown me away. I love where music videos are going. You also must check out the video for My Girls if you haven’t seen it yet.

Dimlite

I first heard Dimlite when Smax mixed Quiz Tears into a set last October, and I’ve been hooked ever since. This producer from Switzerland sounds a little like his friends Teebs and Dorian Concept, and is known for the intense environments he weaves around his sample-clad beats. He also releases gorgeous lo-fi material under the [...]

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new. More about the brains behind the brawn, here.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it. Happy Listening!
