° The Drop: Issue 1 °

So I’ve been toying with this idea for a while now. We get a lot of emails filled with great music, often things fall by the wayside simply because of a lack of time, or even though a track can end up on repeat for weeks, sometimes I find that I don’t have anything clever or interesting to say about it, just that I like it. So I present to you The Drop, once a week I’ll bring you the things that I just didn’t have time to write about sooner, but will carry your ears through the weekend. So hopefully these tracks can introduce you to something new, as well as inspire a weekend of dancing. Cheers.

Erik Hassle – Hurtful (Penguin Prison Remix)
Trust Us – The Make Out Kids
Hawa – D.A.N.C.E. (Justice Cover)
Euphorie – Stratosfear
Sensual Harassment – Fever

° Emiliana Torrini – Jungle Drum (Jai Paul Remix) °

I have been holding on to this Jai Paul remix of Jungle Drum for far too long. Jai Paul is the future. There is still no info on the official release date for Bait Ones, but it needs to drop real soon.

° The Amplifetes °

The Amplifetes arrived on my radar just a few days ago, and I am pleased that they did. They’ve got a grungy brand of pop that is easily accessible, and if this video is any indication, some pretty good senses of humor. According to them, “Our influences start somewhere around the 60s Psychadelia of Roy Wood and Velvet Underground, spiral through the 70s brilliance of The Electric Light Orchestra and The Ramones, via early Elvis Costello – New Wave and the different shapes of David Bowie straight into Chicago House, with a little Paul Hardcastle on top.” I could go on and on about how accurate this is, but the truth is that their music speaks for itself. It’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face and the accompanying video is lovely. I’m glad that they found their way into my inbox as well as my heart, and hope that they will win you over as well.

° Gauntlet Hair °

Gauntlet Hair is a duo out of Colorado who craft gorgeous, reverb heavy, lo-fi melodies. There is something so fragile and hypnotic about I Was Thinking that is keeping it on repeat. These guys are only going to be playing shows around Colorado this summer, so you better find them if you’ll be in the area.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
