° Theophilus London – I WANT YOU °

It’s no secret that over here at D.I.D., we really love Theophilus London. I had This Charming Mixtape on repeat for months, and have been looking forward to today’s release of I WANT YOU for a while now. It’s looking to be his most epic move yet, featuring his classic rhymes and an impeccable use of samples, this is sure to be the soundtrack for the next few seasons. You can download the rest of it for free from his website, so go on, join the hype.

° AFRICA AFRICA AFRICA °

So in conjunction with Lunchbox Theory‘s legendary Afro-Beat parties here in DC, a new Africa Africa Africa mixtape will be released to preview the tunes you will hear on the last Thursday of every month, and if you aren’t lucky enough to reside in DC, then it’ll help make the end of the week come sooner. Compiled by DJ Underdog, this is not to be missed. Go ahead, dance around your office/house/whatever.

° DTMD – “You” °

To celebrate this glorious weather in DC (no more rain!), let’s start the day off with some local flavor. This video and track come from DTMD which stands for Dunc & Toine Makin’ Dollas (so tight), two young men making beats and rhymes in our nation’s capital. I was informed that this video features the duo working at their actual day jobs, keepin’ it real. Their sound is so crisp and classic, it’s hard to believe they’re only 20 and 21, kids these days… You can download their EP entitled The Basics for free from their bandcamp, and you certainly won’t regret it.

° The History Of The Loop Digga °

Madlib has been steamrolling through 2k10 with his acclaimed Medicine Show series. The History of the Loop Digga, his fifth installment in the series, features a collection of early beats made between 1990 and 2000. The album also features raps by Madlib and an early Quasimoto, penned just before The Unseen was actualized. I can’t even begin to imagine what Madlib will do after he completes this series. OJ Simpson is looking so epic. Look for the album to be out on all formats by May 25.

Madlib – Episode XVI

Madlib – Static Invazion

Madlib/Guilty Simpson – Cali Hills

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
