° Emay °

Emay is a 19 year old producer from Toronto who recently sent over some beats from an instrumental album he made based off of the Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack. These are some hot beats. I can’t wait to hear what his proper LP will sound like.

Emay – Furs

Emay – Capsize

° Allure °

Allure is an up-and-coming producer from Paris who recently sent over some new material he’s been working on. This is the first artist since LBCK to get me excited about Electro all year. His Sebastien Tellier remix is killing it.

Allure – Renaissance

Sebastien Tellier – L’Amour et la Violence (Allure Remix)

° Mathemagic °

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to discover Mathemagic, but these brothers from Ontario are making some intriguing sounds up North. Their warm, reverb heavy riffs, synths, and harmonies are creating quite the buzz around the internet. I think these guys are going to have a great summer. Bonus CFCF remix.

Mathemagic – Breaststroke

Mathemagic – High

CFCF – Big Love (Mathemagic Remix)

° Blue Hawaii °

This post was written by the lovely Tim and originally featured on his blog, smokeDONTsmoke (click here and your ears will thank you). He’ll be tuning in from time to time.

Well it looks like Canada has done it again, bringing us some the most breezy, emotive, music around. Montreal duo Blue Hawaii have an amazing new album out on Arbutus Records called Blooming Summer, and it’s free for download! A cassette version of the album is also available for just $5 (highly suggested).

I saw these guys explode all over the internet earlier this week, thanks to Gorilla vs. Bear, but didn’t get a chance to listen to the full album until later in the week. It’s breezy, light and fun, and has a strange way of pulling at your heart strings. Ra’s vocals are very reminiscent of jj and Elizabeth Sankey. Whatever the case, this eight track album is a gift. You definitely won’t be sorry about throwing it on repeat for the next couple of weeks.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
