I just completed an NYC to Northern MN road trip where the only album I had in my car was
El Guincho‘s
Pop Negro. It may have been a mistake for him to open the album with
Bombay, because the rest of the album is filled with intelligently complex material that may be a little tougher to get used to after the easy going opener.
El Guincho‘s engineering and production ability are top notch, and his beat heavy, elec-tropical sound really shines through on this album. Aside from
Soca Del Eclipse, every track on the release is spot on. Anyone who’s purchased anything by
Vampire Weekend must have this in their collection.
El Guincho – FM Tan Sexy
El Guincho – Novias
