• Mesita – Living/Breathing EP •

So it’s been ages since I initially came into contact with Mesita, and back then I’d only heard one track off of his Living/Breathing EP. Luckily that one song stuck around in my head, and many (shameful) months later, I’ve come around to listen to the EP in its entirety. I’m an idiot for waiting around this long, as I’m completely in love. I think I had pigeonholed his sound in my memory, and was happily proven wrong. He’s pulled together a number of sounds and instrumentation to create a collection of tracks that are multilayered while remaining light and bright. These are summer sounds that are sure to brighten up any dreary winter day.. In his mellower moments where the vocals are delicate, to me, he reminds me of Josh Mease, only with more pop influences. When he kicks up the tempo a bit, the urgency makes it hard to not imagine myself listening to these tracks in the vibrant summer sun. This EP is delightfully irresistible and understated, and the craziest part is that he’s giving it away for free on his website, so go get in on what you didn’t know you were missing.
