° Keaver & Brause °

Keaver & Brause is the work of one man, Tom Keaver, who crafts primitively intrinsic electronic beats. I first heard about his work through a contribution on Bibio‘s The Apple And The Tooth, but 2009′s The Middle Way has been one of the best discoveries I’ve made all year. He’s currently releasing more uptempo rhythms as Neon Jung through Lone‘s Magic Wire Recordings imprint, and hopefully enough people are as into Just Can’t Leave It Alone as I am keep him on the scene. Be sure to check him out if he’s in your area.

Through the request of a mutual internet friend Vahé and I decided to make a collaborative mix. I tend to think of mixes seasonally, but since I’m in the US and he’s in Australia, we were experiencing opposite ones. Naturally, we went with that tension and here’s what came out; a sonic journey that travels from anticipation to contemplation. Enjoy.

° VIDEO: heRobust – “Snail Gate” °

heRobust has steadily been climbing on the beat scence since Albumin hit his bandcamp a few months ago, and he recently sent over a video SlurpTV made for Snail Gate. This celestial video collage comments on the liturgy of consumerism and is a perfect accompaniment to my favorite track on the EP. You can still snag Albumin for free on his bandcamp, and check out more unreleased material on his soundcloud.

° Moderat – “A New Error” °

I was cruising through some old RBMA lectures recently when I stumbled across this Moderat (a collaboration between Modeselektor and Apparat) video released a few years back. With a dreamy, melancholic chord progression under a driving synth bass and 6/8 drum feel, this track is hard to stop listening to. The three gents toured together through 2009 and some of 2010, with Resident Advisor voting them the best live act of 2009, and if their live shows incorporated a similar hypnotic blend present in this video of A New Error, it makes perfect sense. Information on the groups future plans is limited, but if you like what you hear you can check out their full release.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
