° Sampha – “Indecision” °

2k11 has been quite the year for Sampha, whose work with SBTRKT, Jessie Ware, and Lil Silva has illustrated a unique ability to shine across multiple genres. Indecision is a stripped-down demo he posted on his soundcloud a little over two weeks ago, and its perfect blend of melody with minimal instrumentation (you can even hear a click track bleed into the final seconds of the track) proves that there still is much to come from this multidimensional artist. People seem to have forgotten about his stunning Young Turks debut from last year, and I’ve also included my favorite cut from the EP below.

° Lapti °

Lapti is a multi-dimensional producer from Moscow, Russia, and is a vivid example of how genres can pass fluidly through time and geographical space while constantly evolving. As one of the first artists we’ve discovered through facebook, Lapti covers a lot of great sound while showcasing a style rooted in synth-heavy, downtempo and R&B influenced instrumentals. He’s also remixed the same Janet Jackson tune that Jamie xx used in Far Nearer. Fans of Onra are sure to dig this.

° Bobby Video Kickstarter °

Our friends Bobby, some very talented musicians, are raising money to film a video for their track “Sore Spores” (listen below). After enjoying their excellent, though I think a bit under appreciated, debut album, I think it’s safe to say that anything born from these minds is worth supporting. I decided to back their project, and hope you will too. It’s less than one week to the deadline, so let’s make this happen, donate here.

° VIDEO: Big K.R.I.T. – The Vent °

Just last week I was talking about Big K.R.I.T.‘s latest release, and quoting my favorite track, “The Vent”, when lo and behold he goes and drops a video for it. It is perfect in its simplicity, allowing the thoughtful lyrics to truly speak for themselves. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. (via Pardon Me Duke)

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
