On a tour spanning most of the states, DID favorite Active Child stopped in Minneapolis last Saturday to deliver a wonderfully enchanting set. Pat Grossi’s trio brought songs from his recent release to 7th Street Entry with great command and expression, and the group’s sound perfectly filled the space. It was great to see how these guys could bring a primarily electronic-based studio production to life through great musicianship and solid execution.
What’s more, Cascine’s Chad Valley was an extremely pleasant surprise opener. It was impressive and refreshing to see him proficiently and single-handedly manage a table full of electronic gear without the cumbersome presence of a laptop screen on stage. He complemented a variety of down-tempo grooves with great vocal presence, making for a sound performance that surely demonstrated some of the finer qualities of chillwave, particularly in a live venue.
If you are in the pathway of the remainder of this tour, you must check it out. More photos below.
