I suspect you’ll be hearing a lot about James Berkeley aka King Dinosaur, a Brighton-based producer in the months to come. His debut EP, The Night, was released September 23rd on Artillery Records. James Blake, Mount Kimbie and Jamie Woon are among his main influences, which is very apparent. The title track begins with soft ghostly vocals, reminiscent of The Weeknd, and subtle glitchiness. As it progresses there is a transition into wobbly and jagged percussion. The entire EP beautifully maintains this balance of soft hollowness and heavy bass, sometimes jagged. There are also two remixes of “The Night” on the album; Ambassadeurs and One Broke, both excellent. The album is available on iTunes and Juno.
