Honestly, I’ve never been nuts about Katy B, not that I don’t think that she’s a talented vocalist, but all the pieces never quite connected for me. That is until the release of her latest EP, Danger (I promise I’m not biased just because of the name!). The four track EP enlists a number of A-list collaborators, though most of it comes off as easily digestible electronic pop. Most of it except for the standout track “Aaliyah”. If someone had told me how much I would love a track named after the iconic R&B star which draws clear influence from tracks like “Jolene”, I probably wouldn’t have believed them. Luckily enough Katy B and Jessie Ware manage to pull this off seemingly effortlessly, and weeks after its release, I’m still listening to it on repeat. Download the entire EP for free here.
