Vague-à-bonde is a local rebuttal to the silky electronics of Grimes and Sky Ferreira. She’s currently co-produced by Chris Heidman, who mastered Nyteowl‘s last EP and was instrumental in getting Howler out to the UK, and the supremely catchy hooks of “Evolved” sound like they’ll break the world over. Look out for her sophomore LP when it drops this winter.
Loose Ends are near the top of my favorite boogie acts from the era, and “Oh, You Make Me Feel” basks in 808 cowbells and backing harmonies from someone who sounds a lot like Grimes.
