Ghostly International is celebrating their 10th birthday by releasing Horizon Line/Ghostly By Night, a compilation album featuring ten remixes of Ghostly classics and ten new, forthcoming, and unreleased songs. Everyone from Madlib to Paul White made a remix for the album, and I was very surprised to see Bullion‘s remix of Afrika on the tracklist. This was my favorite track from Washed Out‘s Fantastic Symphony mix, and it’s great to see it on a proper release. Look for the album when it drops this Tuesday.

I have been a big into everything Bullion‘s released since Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee and Say Goodbye To What, his latest release, has been blasting off. I like to think of it as a hook-laden psychedelic journey accompanied by perfectly deep beats. 2k10 is going to be a great year for Bullion. I’m in the middle of an intense road trip, so my posts will be few and far. It’s recently occurred to me that some of my favorite producers get their first real exposure through remixes and serious mash up albums. Danger Mouse mashed up The Beatles‘ White Album with Jay Z‘s Black Album before going on to produce albums for The Black Keys and Gorillaz. Bullion hit in 2008 with Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee. I’ve been in love with Amadou et Mariam ever since I first heard them, and every new track is like a magical gem. I recently came across this remix of Ce N’est Pas Bon, and I absolutely love it, and I’m sure you will too.
