This has been a good year for Dipped in Dollars. From getting a mention in the Guardian, previewing Jai Paul‘s album in XL’s New York office, interviewing artists like Gilles Peterson, Jensen Sportag and Onra to premiering exclusive mixes by Solar Bears, Teams, and Streets Of Beige, our second year has been filled with lots of fun. Hopefully we’ve been able to influence a few record purchases as well. There already are some big things in store for our third year, and Crimson and I have also made mixes to thank you all for the good times.

Busted BASS and I will be mixing live at Beauty Bar in Brooklyn this Wednesday, August 25th from 10 pm – 4 am. We’ll be throwing out a lot of tracks we’ve featured on the site over the last year, as well as a few gems that’ll be out in the next couple of weeks. We’re really excited to take this bar over. There is no cover charge, but you should definitely take advantage of the drink specials going down that evening.

Dam-Funk + HIGHLIFE Live

Smax and I combined as HIGHLIFE and opened for Dam-Funk last Saturday. Our set included tracks from Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus, and Washed Out, as well as some of our own beats. I also got to engineer the show, and was really into Dam‘s set. His show was mostly a mix of classic funk with some of his own tracks, which were performed live. I haven’t seen people dance like that in years. Smax and I recorded our set and will be throwing it on the Comanche bandcamp very soon. Here is the first 8 minutes of our set. Mix of the Month, Comanche

Dipped in Dollars is proud to present our February Mix of the Month, where we ask an up-and-coming artist to present us with a mix/mixtape that will allow us to gain better perspective of their process/show us what we can expect to hear from them in the future. Indian Summer is a little mix I made featuring some of my favorite songs we’ve been throwing out over these last few months. It doesn’t feature any music you’ll hear on the upcoming Comanche LP, but it’s a solid example of what you’ll be hearing from our live sets. I tried to hold off on too many special effects and let the songs speak for themselves. Expect more Comanche singles/remixes/mixtapes throughout the year. Tracklist below.
