° Dam-Funk + HIGHLIFE Live °

Smax and I combined as HIGHLIFE and opened for Dam-Funk last Saturday. Our set included tracks from Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus, and Washed Out, as well as some of our own beats. I also got to engineer the show, and was really into Dam‘s set. His show was mostly a mix of classic funk with some of his own tracks, which were performed live. I haven’t seen people dance like that in years. Smax and I recorded our set and will be throwing it on the Comanche bandcamp very soon. Here is the first 8 minutes of our set. Tracklist provided below for anyone interested.

Dam-Funk – Mirrors

Hudson Mohawke – No One Could Ever

The Knife – Heartbeats

° Nite Jewel °

Danger has been consumed by some serious snow that’s just made its way through the D.C. area, so I guess you’re stuck in Chief City. In midst of my endless quest to find all things glo-fi, Nite Jewel has been pure pleasantry. The project of L.A. based artist Ramona Gonzalez, Nite Jewel is slow, mystical lo-fi that sounds like it’s melting in my tape deck. This video for Lover is hilarious. Bonus Dam-Funk collabo.

° Mirrors °

This video from L.A. based Dam-Funk has been keeping me warm while the entirety of Northern Minnesota is consumed in a sub zero tundra. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this cold. Toeachizown dropped last October, and Mirrors is a perfect example of Dam’s distinct funk sound. Stones Throw sure knows when to bring the fire. Bonus Animal Collective remix.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
