Hopefully you guys know by now how much I appreciate a good music video. This one from OSYM is based on Kafka’s (genius) Metamorphosis. Apparently the track itself is also a tribute to Flying Lotus. You have to love all the respect being paid, so dive in.
We’re very excited and honored to be presenting this mixtape (alongside Mostly Junk Food and Potholes in My Blog) by one of our favorite musicians, the wonder that is Datahowler. He’s crafted this one in honor of the heatwave/drought that Texas experienced this summer from which they are just now recovering. In his own original work he draws from a myriad of influences, so it’s only fitting that this would be an eclectic bundle of joy. More than just a mix, it’s an explorative journey of sound. Stream it through his bandcamp here, or grab the .zip of mp3s. He’s also nominated for two Dallas Observer Music Awards (Best New Artist and Best Electronic Artist) so show him some voting love here. In addition, he has a few free albums floating around on his bandcamp, so dont sleep.

A while back Flying Lotus dropped a great two and a half hour mix of his some of his favorite material. He has also been posting some excellent b-side material on his soundcloud that you should definitely check out. The mix spans across quite a few genres and plays out very differently from some of his mixes in the past. It is amazing what this guy can do on a whim, and it’s interesting to see how much his influences connect to his unique production style. Flying Lotus – Code of ethNics 2 Flying Lotus – Voyagerrrrrs
I decided to top the year off with a mash-free, Streets Of Beige style mix featuring some of my favorite artists from 2k10. We’ve got some big plans for 2k11. Tracklist provided below. End Of 2k10 by Dipped in Dollars
Onra – High Hopes (feat. Reggie B) Jeremiah Jae – Money Huggers
Bullion – I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times Flying Lotus – Dance Of The Pseudo Nymph
Toro Y Moi – Still Sound

El Guincho – FM Tan Sexy

Monster Rally – Heart Of Grass
“Montaña de Tormenta” is one of the wilder tracks from San Gabriel‘s phenomenal debut on Time No Place, juxtaposing cumbia basslines with rude-boy samples and a high pitched vocal squeal that rises above its tropical melancholia. Volfe is out digitally right now, and you should also pick up the vinyl when it’s out on June 26.
Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. Along the way we were joined by Crimson and B.Darko. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.
This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.
If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
