A plethora of the UK’s finest producers have focused their energy on creating minimal house for the time being, and Gold Panda‘s DJ-Kicks compilation showcases this astute collection of up-and-comers. Tracks from artists like Bok Bok, Zomby, and Matthewdavid are left mostly untouched and worked around a few of his own pieces – which make the most of his SM58 – and highlight how articulate Derwin can be on the dancefloor. I’m particularly enamored with the SNDtune he threw into the mix. It’s the perfect accoutrement for any change of season, and can be purchased just about everywhere you can think of. Gold Panda – An Iceberg Hurled Northward Through Clouds Gold Panda – Back Home
An Iceberg Hurled Northward Through Clouds is the first track on Gold Panda‘s Dj-Kicks compilation, and he shared the tune with his friends on facebook this morning. Iceberg echoes the deep house direction he’s taken since releasing MPB, with a myriad of bells and chimes swirled around soft kicks and poignant synths. You’ll have to wait a couple more weeks before you can get your hands on this release.

B-Ju sounds a lot like Hamburg’s answer to Obey City, combining instrumental hip hop with footwork rhythms and lush 80s synth lines. Prozac People is his second release on the German/Italian imprint Error Broadcast, and they’ve recruited some well respected producers – including Donky Pitch‘s 813 and Monkeytown‘s eLan – to throw their own spin on his work. I love how eLan turned “Mia Got A New Haircut” into a [...]
Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.
This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.
If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
