° Major Lazer, “Sound of Siren” °

I was a little weary to post this before things became official (thanks fake Justice), but Diplo has confirmed this new collabo with M.I.A. will be on a new Major Lazer EP this April. I’m loving the marching beat under vocoded M.I.A. + dangerous flow from Jamaican dancehall champion Busy Signal. Check Major Lazer on tour all Spring.

° M.I.A., “THERES SPACE FOR OL DAT I SEE” °

I guess for us at D.I.D. this is another day of awesome videos from the interwebs. Someone posted this link on facebook, and I ignored it, I know now that I was a fool! My attention was regained by Pasta Primavera, and now I’m in love. This track is slow and simple, as is the video, but in an amazingly hypnotic way. I could watch those green dots form and then separate for ages.

° Rye Rye °

teardrop

credit where credit is due

This weekend I’ve ended up losing rest, gaining mosquito bites, but most of all, ended up with an introduction to Rye Rye. The Baltimore native (what up mid-atlantic!) was included on a free itunes playlist that I initially dismissed because I already owned most of the songs, but way to have one on me itunes. Instant comparisons that come to mind are a calmer Major Lazer and the obvious M.I.A., who is featured on the track. According to allmusic “She was only 17 when a rap left on DJ Blaqstarr’s answering machine turned into a partnership.” Bad ass.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
