We’re very excited and honored to be presenting this mixtape (alongside Mostly Junk Food and Potholes in My Blog) by one of our favorite musicians, the wonder that is Datahowler. He’s crafted this one in honor of the heatwave/drought that Texas experienced this summer from which they are just now recovering. In his own original work he draws from a myriad of influences, so it’s only fitting that this would be an eclectic bundle of joy. More than just a mix, it’s an explorative journey of sound. Madlib has been steamrolling through 2k10 with his acclaimed Medicine Show series. The History of the Loop Digga, his fifth installment in the series, features a collection of early beats made between 1990 and 2000. The album also features raps by Madlib and an early Quasimoto, penned just before The Unseen was actualized. I can’t even begin to imagine what Madlib will do after he completes this series. OJ Simpson is looking so epic. Look for the album to be out on all formats by May 25.

I’m not going to admit how often I listen to/watch the video for Madvillain‘s Accordion, but I’ve recently dived into Daedelus‘ discography and noticed that the song was sampled from his Experience. To add insult to injury, Daedelus is playing the accordion in the video.
