° Sounds of Summer II: Chief & Crimson °

This has been a good year for Dipped in Dollars. From getting a mention in the Guardian, previewing Jai Paul‘s album in XL’s New York office, interviewing artists like Gilles Peterson, Jensen Sportag and Onra to premiering exclusive mixes by Solar Bears, Teams, and Streets Of Beige, our second year has been filled with lots of fun. Hopefully we’ve been able to influence a few record purchases as well. There already are some big things in store for our third year, and Crimson and I have also made mixes to thank you all for the good times.

° Cornelius °

It’s high time I brought some of my favorite poly-rhythmic, stereo-emphatic Cornelius jams your way. He has long been one of my favorite composers/producers that I keep turning back to, and some of his recent work has reminded me of his knack for turning out gems. Bearing a truly one-of-a-kind style, Cornelius has made strong statements across five full length albums, three EPs, and a flurry of remixes over the years. His ability to synthesize dissonant and harmonic sound over an odd meter feel is a treat for the ears, and there are also some more great videos accompanying his work. Let these tracks simmer as you give them a listen.

Cornelius – Breezin’

MGMT – Brian Eno (Cornelius Remix)

Cornelius – Sleep Warm

° MGMT, “Flash Delirium” °

I have no idea what to expect from MGMT‘s CongratulationsOracular Spectacular was very hit-or-miss for me, and I think there may be too many influences going down in Flash Delirium. They’ve decided not to release any singles for the album, hoping it will be seen as a complete body of songs. It’ll be interesting to see how things turn out. Congratulations drops on April 13.

MGMT – Flash Delirium

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
