° Substitute Teachers: Monster Rally °

Monster Rally is the brainchild of 23 year old Columbus, Ohio resident and Cleveland native Ted Feighan. Producing sample-based tropical pop, his releases on Gold Robot weave old records into a wholly different beast. We asked him to close out our summer with some autumn-eschewing vibes, and he presented us with a mix that is purely indicative of his sound.

° LP: Monster Rally – Crystal Ball °

Monster Rally sent over Crystal Ball, a collection of loop-based material that was recorded “in an unbelievably hot attic” during the Palm Reader sessions of July 2010. It’s intriguing to hear him work with more vocal-heavy samples with this record, which almost serves as a primer for the rest of his catalog. You can pick your price for these tropics on his bandcamp for a limited time only.

° Monster Rally – “Island on Fire” °

So this track from Monster Rally is really hitting the spot today. “Island on Fire” comes to us hot of the heels of his debut album Coral which was released this January, (grab that seafoam vinyl here) and came to my attention courtesy of Bad Panda. One of his tracks opened my Sounds of Summer mix from last year, which was a no-brainer as he makes sounds that fit perfectly with those laid-back summer vibes we all know and love. Let the summer jam pre-season begin.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
