° VIDEO: Mount Kimbie – “Before I Move Off” °

Mount Kimbie‘s Crooks and Lovers was probably the first album to make people take the term “post dubstep” seriously, and this Tyrone Lebon directed video for Before I Move Off is a powerful accompaniment to their sound. Lebon has done all of the artwork for the release, and I’m hoping to see a lot more from him in the future. You can find Crooks and Lovers on Amazon for less than $9.

° Chief’s Top Remixes Of 2k10 °

Remixes have become vehicles of influence. They allow an artist to define themselves in relation to their contemporaries, as well as introduce their sound to a wider audience. My favorite artists seem to understand this concept, and this list of remixes embraces an evolution in the industry.

Honorable Mentions:

The XX – Basic Space (Mount Kimbie Remix)
This would have been my top remix of 2k9 if I had been aware of its existence.

The Beatles – And I Love Her (Allure Remix)

Solar Bears – Twin Stars (Lone Remix)

10. Kuhn – Quiet Nights (Young Montana Remix)

9. Deerhunter – Helicopter (Star Slinger Remix)

8. Baths – ♥ (Daedelus’ Snorelaxed Remix)

7. CFCF – It Was Never Meant To Be This Way (Games Remix)

6. Toro Y Moi – Fax Shadow (Shlohmo Remix)

5. Neon Indian – Sleep Paralysist (Com Truise ‘Eyelid’ Remix)

4. Treasure Fingers – Lift Me (Gabriell Remix)

° Mount Kimbie – “Ruby” °

We at DID are big fans of Mount Kimbie, and naturally were thrilled to hear that they not only have a forthcoming EP, entitled Blind Night Errand, but that in anticipation of it, they’re giving away a free track, “Ruby”. I’m excited to hear anything and everything from these guys. You can download the track for free by clicking the link below, and be sure to check out Crooks & Lovers if you’re not already in the know.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
