The Avalanches recently tweeted about a mix they made under the name Henry Chinaski – which was an autobiographical character Charles Bukowski used in his novels – and its addition to the mixes section of their website all but confirms they are getting everyone ready for something much bigger. This collection of mellows from artists including Vashti Bunyan, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Joanna Newsom is a welcome addition to their life-altering mixes that must be consumed by all. ° Avalanches Reissue/Stereolab Remix °

In preparation for the the release of the limited edition, 10-year anniversary reissue of Since I Left You, Modular has disseminated Stereolab‘s remix of The Avalanches‘ Since I Left You. The reissue will include an entire disc of unreleased material, as well as remixes from the likes of El Guincho, MF Doom, and others. With some uncertainty surrounding the pending release of The Avalanches‘ next full album, this will have to keep fans satiated until further news unfolds.

Pitchfork has received news that The Avalanches have enlisted Ariel Pink to record some vocals for their upcoming album, which should definitely be out by the end of the year. This is the best news I’ve heard all year. I can’t even begin to imagine how good this album is going to sound.
