It’s that time of year again, Valentine’s Day, the holiday that divides us all. A year ago today I made a mix for my friends to celebrate the joys of friend love (and beautiful music of course), and I’m at it again, only now I have a lot more people to share this with. So make the most of today, and never fear, regardless of whether or not you’re in a relationship, always remember, Danger Loves You. Download the mix here.

I first got into L.A. producer Nosaj Thing’s work when I heard his remix of Flying Lotus‘ Camel (one of my top remixes of 2k9), and have been deep into everything I’ve heard since. His sonic, ethereal beats have made him a staple in the L.A. underground, and Drift, his first official LP, was another one of my favorites from last year. He also makes some exceptional remixes. I may be one of the only people who isn’t crazy about The Xx, but I think his rework of Islands deserves a little more love.
Nosaj Thing – Heart Entire

So I’ve totally been sleeping when it comes to noticing The xx, but better late than never right? I think this is one of the most flawless albums I have come across lately, I could (and have been) listening to it endlessly. Soulful, but with enough of a beat that you’re not falling asleep. I love the dynamic of having two vocalists that have their own distinct presence and dialogue (plus I kind of want to be the female one, her voice is so dreamy). This is another one of those albums where it was difficult to choose just a few, but none of them will disappoint. These songs will seep into your brain and you will find yourself singing them uncontrollably, trust me, I know from experience.
