We’ve been getting a couple of emails from the organizers Strøm, and this lineup is looking so good. The festival includes sets by Mount Kimbie, Dimlite, Gonjasufi, and Nosaj Thing, and it’s really making me want to head out to Denmark this August. You can purchase your own tickets here.

Mount Kimbie, “Maybes”

Mount Kimbie is a London duo who have built a massive following with only four releases on Hotflush Records. I’m not quite sure if I’d call their sound post-dubstep, but the pitch-shifted vocals and deep beats of Maybes is quite an intriguing sound. The James Blake remix almost reminds me of a dubbier Gold Panda. Catch them on tour throughout Europe all summer.

It’s that time of year again, Valentine’s Day, the holiday that divides us all. A year ago today I made a mix for my friends to celebrate the joys of friend love (and beautiful music of course), and I’m at it again, only now I have a lot more people to share this with. I first got into L.A. producer Nosaj Thing‘s work when I heard his remix of Flying Lotus‘ Camel (one of my top remixes of 2k9), and have been deep into everything I’ve heard since. His sonic, ethereal beats have made him a staple in the L.A. underground, and Drift, his first official LP, was another one of my favorites from last year. He also makes some exceptional remixes. I may be one of the only people who isn’t crazy about The Xx, but I think his rework of Islands deserves a little more love.

So I’ve totally been sleeping when it comes to noticing The xx, but better late than never right? I think this is one of the most flawless albums I have come across lately, I could (and have been) listening to it endlessly. Soulful, but with enough of a beat that you’re not falling asleep. I love the dynamic of having two vocalists that have their own distinct presence and dialogue (plus I kind of want to be the female one, her voice is so dreamy). This is another one of those albums where it was difficult to choose just a few, but none of them will disappoint. These songs will seep into your brain and you will find yourself singing them uncontrollably, trust me, I know from experience.
