Machinedrum has swallowed the early chunk of 2012, collaborating on new works with Azealia Banks and Om Unit, remixing Bonobo and Gang Colours, and releasing his own SXLND EP on LuckyMe earlier this month. I don’t know how he’s going to keep up at this pace all year, but hearing this Letherette remix of a tune he did with Theophilus London almost three years ago is telling me there still is much more in store. You can catch him on tour with Sepalcure/SBTRKT all spring.

So it was exactly one year ago today, that we had our first post here at D.I.D. I can’t believe it’s already been a year, we’ve come so far. In celebration of our first birthday, Chief and I both made celebratory mixes (he’ll be dropping his half, later today), entitled Sounds of Summer, to thank all of you for tagging along with us on this awesome journey. I had This Charming Mixtape on repeat for months, and have been looking forward to today’s release of I WANT YOU for a while now. It’s looking to be his most epic move yet, featuring his classic rhymes and an impeccable use of samples, this is sure to be the soundtrack for the next few seasons. Theophilus London is blasting off. We’ve been giving this pioneer of today’s electro-fueled urban pop movement (hahaha) lots of love over the last few months, and this video should hopefully get him farther out there. The premise of the video is a little simple, but judging from the flood of starry-eyed Theophilus lovers that have been emailing me about this since it dropped yesterday, I think people would watch a video of this guy doing anything. Looking forward to his upcoming release.
