° Blackbird Blackbird – “Erasers” °

I was really surprised to hear the psychedelic, sample-heavy sound of Blackbird Blackbird‘s Erasers, which will be the first single from his upcoming sophomore release. The single almost sounds like something you’d hear from The Flaming Lips, and I’m really excited to hear him take his sound in this direction. You can purchase the sprawling, 20-track Summer Heart for only $10 here.

° Warpaint – “Undertow” (Blackbird Blackbird Remix) °

Blackbird Blackbird appears to be the only one successfully riding the chillwave these days, so I guess he’ll have to fill those lonely beaches with reverb-heavy versions of our favorite gems. Warpaint‘s The Fool was disappointing for me on many levels, but Blackbird Blackbird found a way to take their 1993 sound and drag it back a decade. He’s playing Smoke Don’t Smoke/FMLY‘s showcase this Saturday, and you need to be there.

° PREORDER: Warpaint – “The Fool” °

We’re rounding out our week with Warpaint‘s cover of David Bowie‘s Ashes To Ashes. Everything we’ve heard from The Fool sounds like its going to be a classic, and you can pre-order it here.

° Warpaint – Ashes To Ashes °

I’ve been following Warpaint since their 2009 release Exquisite Corpse took me by storm, and I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this gem earlier in the week. Ashes To Ashes can be found on the two disc We Were So Turned On: A Tribute To David Bowie that will be out next week, which also features covers by Chairlift, Sister Crayon, and Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros. These girls are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands out there, and I’m loving how they’ve made this song something else. They’re on tour with The xx all fall, and I’m killing myself for not getting tickets for their show at the United Palace soon enough.

WHO WE ARE

Dipped in Dollars (D.I.D.) is the brainchild of Chief and Danger. While attending a crazy liberal arts college in Vermont, we realized our mutual love of righteous dance music, art, and the people behind them. D.I.D. exists to share this love with you and hopefully turn you on to something new.

This site exists to promote artists, if you hear something you like, think about throwing the artist(s) a few dollars, buy an album, go to a concert, show them you care. If any artists or official people want us to take any of our links down, just shoot us an email and we'll take care of it.

If you wish to contact the team, send mail to did@dippedindollars.com or for individual addresses, check here. (But please not both, duplicates are a drag)
